Integrated Science for Junior Secondary learners

Integrated Science helps learners make sense of the natural and designed world through observation, explanation and evidence. WazaSchool supports Grades 7–9 learners with a structured approach to studying concepts and checking understanding.

Learn from concepts and evidence

Start with the key question or learning objective. Identify important terms, connect the explanation to an observable example, and summarise the process in your own words. Ask what evidence supports a conclusion.

Practise scientific explanation

When answering a question, state the relevant concept, explain the process or relationship, and use evidence or an example where appropriate. Clear reasoning matters alongside remembering vocabulary.

Build a revision habit

After a lesson, write three key points, one question you still have and one example from daily life. Revisit difficult ideas before moving on.

Who this page is for

This public guide is for learners, parents and teachers exploring Integrated Science support within Kenya-focused Junior Secondary CBC/CBE learning.

How to study Integrated Science effectively

Science learning combines accurate knowledge with careful observation, explanation and evidence. Rather than learning a list of terms in isolation, connect each concept to a process, a question or an example you can explain.

Understand key vocabulary

Write each important term beside a clear definition and an example. Practise distinguishing related terms and use scientific language precisely when describing a process.

Observe and explain

Separate what you observe from what you think it means. Describe the evidence first, then explain how the relevant scientific idea helps account for it.

Connect cause and effect

When studying a process, identify what changes, what causes the change and what evidence would support your explanation. Use labelled sketches or simple flow sequences where useful.

Answer questions clearly

Respond to the command word in the question. For an explanation, state the idea and describe the process; for a comparison, identify the basis of comparison and address both sides.

Revision prompts

Use teacher-approved practical instructions and appropriate supervision for experiments or demonstrations. This public page provides study guidance; private lesson materials, assignments and learner progress require authorised sign-in.
